Annual Meeting

Members Present:Otho Stevens, Robert Shinn, Ima Beam, Louise Plodinec, T.O. Sheffield, Denise Backstrom, Barbara Fournie, Al Kirk, Hank Jaeckel, Jack Goodman

I President Hank Jaeckel called the meeting to order at 12:45 P.M.

II Jack Goodman read the minutes of the 2/17/02 meeting. One correction was noted. Budget was to be ready by 3rd Sunday in May {5/19/02} instead of April as read. There were no other corrections or additions.

III Treasurer’s report {Sammie Swinney absent} Report read by Otho Stevens. Balance as of 5/14/02 was $ 4540.35. Detailed report filed with Secretary.

IV Presidents Remarks

A President presented Inventory list compiled by Charles Smith. Detailed copy filed with Secretary.

B. President presented a request by the Oxford UU group to do some shared programs. Motion made by Jack Goodman for the President, Sunday Service Chairman, and Social Chairman to contact Oxford and investigate more thoroughly. Motion carried.

C. President stated there was an upcoming conference for Congregation Presidents. Registration is $60.00 and each Congregation is encouraged to pay the full fee. A motion was made by Ima Beam to pay the full $60. Motion carried.

V Finance Committee {Otho Stevens}, Chairman presented budget for approval. Following areas were raised: Motion to approve full registration for 2 persons for Mid South meetings and UU General Assembly meetings was made by Barbara Fournie. Motion carried. This increased meeting budget to $8oo.oo. Communication budget increased to $1000.00. Sunday Bulletins moved from Sunday Programming to Communications committee along with responsibility. There was a motion to approve the revised budget. Motion carried Revised budget to be filed with Secretary. Thanks to Otho for an outstanding job.

VI Election The following people were nominated to the following positions: President Jack Goodman; Vice President, T.O. Sheffield; Secretary, Ruth Jaeckel; Treasurer, Sammie Swinney; Sunday Programing, Isis Johnson; Membership, Ima Beam; Financial, Otho Stevens; Social, Margi Koranek; Communications, Barbara Fournie; Structure/ByLaws, Luther Brackeen; Religious Education -O-. There were no floor nominations. A motion was made by Denise Backstrom to accept the slate as nominated by the committee. Motion carried.

VII Membership Committee T.O. Sheffield Reported have increased number by a few. Had first signing for membership, will increase follow up in future.

VIII Religious Education {Ruth Jaeckel absent} Report read by Louise Plodine. Report in detail filed with Secretary. Denise Backstrom presented report on Adult R.E. Report filed with Secretary.

IX Social Committee {Briggs Massey absent} Report read by Jack Goodman. Detailed report on file with Secretary.

X Communications {Robert Shinn } Robert reported on status of internet contact. A detailed copy of his report is filed with the Secretary.

XI Sunday Programming { Ima Beam}Ima gave a detailed report of that committee work this year. The report is filed with the Secretary.

XII Structure/ ByLaws {Debbie Morris absent} No Report

XIII President’s Report { Hank Jaeckel} Hank gave a very detailed report on the year’s activities of the UU Fellowship of Tupelo. Detailed report filed with the Secretary.

XIV Adjournment Jack Goodman made a motion to adjourn. Motion carried.
